A seeker once asked – What is the meaning of fate?

The Guru replied – Assumptions.

The seeker asked – In what way?

The Guru said –
You assume things are going to go well and they don’t – that you call bad luck.
You assume things are going to go badly and they don’t – that you call good luck.
You assume that certain things are going to happen or not happen – you lack intuition so you don’t know what is going to happen. You assume that the future is known or unknown.
When you get caught out, you call that Fate.

The majority of people are so caught up with what has been fed to them, that they do not pause to reflect on anything in life. Their whole life is just running and running – like a hamster on a wheel. And to what purpose – most will have no answer. This mechanical state of living life is what drains an individual totally. And once drained the individual starts feeling that life and the world is a waste.

Many people mistake fate for Karma. What is generally called fate, is nothing but the result of an individual’s Karma. Your Karma is what you have come with in this world, your fate is decided by your Karma, how you react to your Karma determines your fate and the Karma that comes your way in this life and the next.

Once you accept and understand this simple truth, you will stop complaining and crying and start to make changes to your life. The changes you make will bring a whole new meaning to your life.

This life is a golden opportunity for you to enjoy this world while fulfilling all your Karmic obligations. The key to enjoyment is meditation. Start meditating and see how beautiful and wonderful life can be.
