Tantra

Shiva Shakti
Tantra is the path that leads one to liberation. Tantra is the practical way to know and understand this world and the beyond.

Tantra is extremely deep and varied. Tantra embraces life. It is not possible to sum it up in a few words. Tantra has to be experienced, it is not a theoretical subject.

Tantra says that the human body is the vehicle for the individual to go beyond this materialistic world. At the same time, Tantra says that the material world is to be enjoyed.

Tantra is the conscious play of energy within the human body that helps the individual to know themselves and the beyond.

The human body has more than 72,000 Naadis or energy pathways. Just as blood moves through the arteries, veins and capillaries, similarly Prana or energy moves through the Naadis.

Chakras are energy centers where multiple Naadis converge. Chakras are located along the spine. There are seven main Chakras. Each Chakra has it’s own unique characteristics.

When the energy is free flowing through the Naadis and all Chakras are in synchronisation, the individual experiences good health and well being. Any disruption in this and it is reflected in the outer physical material world.

Naadi blockages and Chakra imbalances happen due to many causes – past life Karmic baggage and bonds, repressed feelings, unfulfilled desires etc. In Tantra there are many techniques, that resolve all these causes which results in the individual being able to move forward on their spiritual journey in this life itself.

Tantra should be practiced under the guidance of a Tantric Guru or someone who has trained under a Tantric Guru. This ensures that not only does one learn properly but also that no new Karmic bonds are formed.

There are thousands of Tantric texts. Just by reading them and doing what is mentioned will not yield anything. A Tantric Guru is needed – for the Guru has walked the path and knows the intricacies of this path.

If one is really interested in Tantra and wishes to explore, a Guru is absolutely necessary. The Guru will guide the disciple and lead the disciple to enlightenment and beyond.

The Tantrik Pathway

Tantra says that the whole universe is a play of the Goddess (Shakti) and so are we. Hence every Tantric enjoys all the material aspects of the world as they are a blessing from the Goddess. This is seen as decadence or indulgence by many but it is not.

Tantra starts from the very base. Breathwork and certain meditations have to be practiced. This expands the awareness of the individual which leads to deepening the consciousness of the individual. As the Saadhak proceeds on this path, they start understanding their own selves better. This understanding of the self helps one with the basic question – why am I here and what is life about?

As the Saadhak progresses, the body then becomes an instrument to help the Saadhak in their journey. This is the turning point, if one may call it so. At this point, glimpses and experiences of the Goddess start happening. This further assists the individual in their journey.

Tantra – Sex or Power

Many people associate Tantra with sex or power. Both are gifts from the Goddess.

A Tantric knows the journey of this world will end in the cremation ground. So why hanker after things that will be dropped? Hence, a Tantric approaches life very differently as compared to others. This is what gives power to the Tantric – detachment. What most people waste their whole lives on, a Tantric will walk away from. This detachment is not one to be spoken about; it is to be lived.

Sambhog Hi Paramsukh Hai – Sex is the supreme bliss. Also known as Sacred Sexuality, this happens only when one understands oneself. Tantra has many techniques that increase sexual pleasure – once the Tantric knows how to access their sexual pleasure at will, they willingly share it with those who are fit and ready for it. Pleasure is not a zero-sum game; it keeps expanding when shared with the right person.
