It’s a very strange fact but it is there – many people say – “I will become spiritual or explore spirituality, once I get old”. This is a statement that comes from ignorance. Why wait till you are old and dying? What are you going to explore then? Will you have the energy to do anything? Most people will be busy visiting doctors and hospitals once they are old. Then what, you think you have the energy to do anything apart from slouch on your couch!
Another statement is – “I am young and want to enjoy life”. Who is stopping you from that? Do you know what is enjoyment for you or does peer pressure and media advertising decide what is enjoyment for you?
Meditation is about “Living in the Moment”. It is about being conscious in your daily life. When you live life consciously, life becomes one long symphony. You start enjoying every moment. Not only you but even those around you get affected. People start spending more time with you. You become some sort of a people magnet. And all this effortlessly.
Meditation is nothing but a technique or process that helps you tune into yourself. As you become more meditative, the mindless chatter that fills your mind drops away, leaving you still and calm.
I say meditation is like feeding the roots of your being. As the roots grow deep and vast, the tree goes stronger and taller. Similiarly, as you become more meditative, your worldly life becomes drastically different. You start enjoying life. You have what the French call “Joie de Vivre“.
Start celebrating life today. Don’t wait till you get old or for tomorrow to enjoy. That will never happen. Something will always delay or obstruct.
Meditation is not for when you get old. Meditation is for NOW – when you are young and your body responds to you. And meditation is to be done when you are living in this world. Meditation is not an escape from this world. Get that misconception out of your head. Meditation is for those who love to live and enjoy life!
