Man sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health.
And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present;
the result being that he does not live in the present or the future;
he lives as if he is never going to die,
and then dies having never really lived.

Someone wrote the above lines. We all read it and like it and forward it to many others. And then we go back to our daily grind, doing exactly what is written in those lines. The question arises – are we really aware of what we are doing or are we so lost in the daily humdrum of life, that we do not want to or cannot take action to make any changes in our lives. Is materialism so important, that we keep going after it, even when we have more than we need?

That question is incorrect. The real question is – what do I want in my life and why? This question is very uncomfortable and difficult to answer. Most of us are lost in the daily grind, tired by the end of the day and just surviving in this material world. So how does one find out, what one really wants. What does it mean to be alive? And what does it mean to live a good life?

We are all unique individuals. We have our own wants, desires and needs. Unfortunately, all of these get subsumed by the worldly and societal narratives around us. This leads us to living our lives as per the narratives of others. So how do we switch out of other’s narratives and get back to doing what we actually want to do?

Meditation helps us in this. A regular meditation practice helps in many ways. It not only calms you down but also helps you withdraw from your constant thinking for a period. This window helps you look at life with a different perspective. Once you see alternative perspectives, you realise there is more to life and that life can be lived in different manner. When this realisation happens, materialism is no more seductive or appealing. Material becomes Immaterial!

Start your meditation journey today. It will help you live in the present. It will help you live your life fully. It will let you enjoy yourself and your life!
