Lonely or Free? How Solitude Reveals a Hidden Treasure Within You
A person once asked – If nobody asks about me, is it freedom or loneliness?
A very interesting question. Some people would answer one or the other, most would get angry at the question and go away in disgust. It is a disconcerting question for most people, as both freedom and loneliness are very much feared!
Let’s think about it a bit. What is freedom? What is loneliness? Are these the only two choices we have as human beings?
To a conscious and aware person, this question is redundant. A conscious person knows that both freedom and loneliness are part of the tapestry of life and can be accessed at will. This realisation comes as a conscious person has experienced his/her inner core – the space of silence or solitude that is within each one of us.
Once a person has experienced this state, similar to the state of Satori as described by the Zen Masters, he/she will go beyond the dualistic binary thinking that most people follow. The person experiences and understands the truth and strength of the state of silence or solitude and how liberating it is.
So, how does one reach this state of silence or solitude?
The answer is Meditation. When you start to meditate, there are a lot of thoughts and emotions that keep running through your mind. But gradually, all these thoughts and emotions subside, and one starts getting glimpses of the beyond.
Meditation is the key to knowing yourself, the key that opens up the treasures that are hidden within you. Start meditating and see how life unfolds in a blissful, pleasurable way.
